Finally, Montelago is excited to welcome back master gaitero José Ángel Hevia Velasco, the Asturian piper who has sold more than two and a half million albums worldwide.
Having started studying the bagpipes at the age of four, Hevia invented the gaita Midi, an electronic version with which he revolutionized popular music, taking it beyond traditional boundaries and into the realm of the general public.
Tierra de nadie, his debut album, includes his most famous piece, Busindre Reel, a track that has transcended classification and genre. Over his thirty years of performing, he has countless awards to his name – in addition to gold and platinum discs in numerous countries, his undisputed technical ability earned him solo artist first prize at the prestigious Interceltique Festival of Lorient in Brittany, a venue he’s played several times.
