Conference of the Italian Association of Tolkien Studies, with Sara Gianotto

As many readers will know, the origin of J.R.R. Tolkien’s stories lies in his love for languages: it was to give life to the Elven languages that the Professor decided to create a people that would speak them and a world in which they could live and create stories & legends. The discussion is dedicated above all to the Elven languages and the art of writing in Tengwar, but it will will also touch on the Runes of the Dwarfs and their use in the different Ages of Middle Earth. Through these paths we can explore the secrets of the writing systems invented by Tolkien in the 1930s, with the different ways of Quenya & Sindarin, and how to translate them into English and Italian.
